IIT Roorkee - Indian Institute of Technology Eligibility

IIT Roorkee under its Department of Management Studies (DOMS) offers a two-year MBA programme across five specialisations. It is a full-time residential programme which is divided into eight terms. MBA admission at IIT Roorkee is offered based on CAT score, followed by the performance of candidates in the PI round. However,  JEE Advanced-qualified IIT Graduates with CGPA 7 or above on a 10-point scale are exempted from the initial shortlisting process and are directly called for the PI round. The selection criteria is divided into two caregories:

Category-1  (Graduates applying on the basis of CAT score) - CAT score: 60%, PI: 30%, Work experience: 10%

Category-2  (IIT graduates admitted through JEE Advanced) - PI: 100%

Based on the above distribution the candidates are selected for MBA programme.

Under the Free Messing scheme, a student can avail of a free messing (only basic menu) facility and a pocket allowance of INR 250 per month. Such students are also exempted from payment of hostel room rent. In case a student does not seek free messing, he/she gets a pocket allowance of INR 1,000 per month. To avail Free Messing scheme, a student is expected to fulfil the following conditions:

• Applicant belongs to SC or ST category.
• The applicant is a student of BTech, BArch, Integrated Dual Degree (IDD), Integrated Master of Technology (IMT), Integrated Master of Science (IMS), and BS-MS programmes admitted through JEE (Advanced) or MSc programmes admitted through JAM.
• The Gross Income of parents (Father and Mother or Guardian) during the previous financial year is not more than INR 5 LPA.

IIT Roorkee eligibility criteria vary depending upon the programme candidates are opting for. In order to apply for admission to the IIT Roorkee courses, candidates must first go to the websites of the organisations responsible for holding the relevant national entrance exams and complete the online application form. For students seeking admission at the Undergraduate (UG) level, students are required to apply for both JEE Main and JEE Advanced for admission to IIT Roorkee BTech course. To be eligible for the IIT Roorkee MBA programme, candidates need to possess a graduation degree/ professional qualification in any stream from a UGC-recognised university with a minimum of 60% aggregate (55% for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates). Final-year students are also eligible to apply.
