The candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD require to score a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade in their class XII (or equivalent) examination. Candidates belonging to other categories require to score a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade in their class XII (or equivalent) examination.

Candidates who wish to apply for M.Tech admissions must have graduated with at least a 50–70% aggregate score. In order to be admitted to IISc, students must also have passed the GATE exam. Online applications are accepted. While the application fee for the SC/ST category is INR 400, it is INR 800 for the General, OBC, and EWS (economically weaker section) categories.

On the official website, the IISc Admissions Portal, candidates wishing to be admitted to IISc Bangalore can submit their online applications. To access the registration page, click the "Apply Now" option located beneath the name of the M.Tech course. After choosing the programme, click "New user to register click here" once more.
