Both the IISC Bangalore or IIT Roorkee are top universities in India. IIT Roorkee is best for engineering courses like computer Science engineering, civil engineering etc. while IISC is in top 200 institutes in India in the world according to qs World University ranking 2025 the highest package offers in IISC Bangalore is 86 Lpa whereas IIT Roorkee is ranked 335 in the world according to the Qs World University ranking 2025. IISC is known for research and it is the top reaserch university.

IISc Bangalore conducts JEE Main for admission to its BTech courses. However, it is not compulsory for selection. Aspirants with a required score in other accepted exams: GATE, CEED, COAP etc. are also eligible to apply. Moreover, aspirants shall check out the eligibility requirements before applying for the course. Candidates are shortlisted based on accepted exam scores for further selection rounds. No, it is no possible to seek admission at IISc for M.Tech without GATE exam.  Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore offers a four year M.Tech in various specialisations including Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and others. Admission to all the courses at IISc is completely entrance-based. The aspirants are admitted to M.Tech at IISc based on scores in GATE exam followed by COAP counselling.
