The rank required for getting an admission in IIT Bombay depends upon the branch. For high competitive branch like Computer Science engineering a rank around 100 is considered safe. For electrical engineering and mechanical engineering a rank inside 500 and 1500 is required. The cut off rank also depends upon the students category.

In order to admit to IIT Bombay, it is usually required of you to have a very high JEE Advanced ranking. Even popular branches such as Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) have a closing rank that is normally less than 100 (e.g. about 60-70). In other competitive courses such as Electrical or Mechanical Engineering rank position is usually required in the range of 200-1800. Offices that are less competitive may accept up to 4000-7000 in terms of ranks depending on the year and category. Targeting All India Rank (AIR) which is top 1500, puts you in a great advantage in multiple programs.

In IIT Bombay B.Tech admissions of 2024, cutoffs (closing ranks) were also very varied across branches and branch-wise across categories. In the much desired Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), the last rank was 68 in the general category. Such other departments as Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Civil Engineering closed at approximately 464, 1685, and 4046 (General, Last Round). These are the ranks under JEE Advanced 2024 examination. The qualifying cut off (general category) of CEED 2024 Part A was 50.26 in case of M.Des. programs. Portfolio and interviews are also taken into consideration in final M.Des admi

One needs a very good CEED ranks to get through the M.Des programme at IIT Bombay. Although the rank cut offs are not always announced openly, all the candidates attempt to score an All India Rank (AIR) in the lowest 50-150, particularly in the general category. It is worth mentioning that one has to clear CEED (Part A and B), but one also has to pass his own written test, portfolio viewing and an interview after which your performance in all these stages plays a crucial role in your admission even after the CEED rank. With a high CEED score rating, e.g. 60-70+ / out of 100 you are in good shape.
