IT is related to making software and being a developer completely, while computer science includes the study of both hardware and software. Computer science has had the highest cut-off compared to IT in most of the colleges in recent years. If you're only interested in software development, I suggest that you pursue IT engineering.

For a Career in Information Technology as well as in Computer Engineering, one needs to possess a DEGREE/Graduation for sure. This is important to note that IT through B.Tech. Is more preferred as it comes with acknowledged Specialisation. It is also noteworthy that a B.Tech in Computer Science or Engineering is always the best among the two. A B.Sc. IT can be made a good option when you want to spend LESS TIME, I. e. THREE YEARS and want less of specialisations. B.Sc. Also leads to M.Sc. And saves a year to reach the post graduation. For a Career in IT Do B.Sc. , but not without GOOD SKILLS and EXPERTISE. Otherwise, B.Tech is good.
