Coimbatore has the private Coimbatore Institute of Engineering and Technology (CIET). It was established in 2001, is approved by AICTE, and is affiliated with Anna University in Chennai. CIET offers degree courses in undergraduate and graduate engineering as well as being a self-funded institution. Although the college does not have government funding, it maintains educational standards through affiliation and accreditation. With admissions and expenses managed privately, the institute stands out for facilities, industrial association, and placement.

The faculty of L.J. Institute of Engineering and Technology (L.J.I.E.T) has been considered as quite good. Most of the faculty hold M.Tech or Ph.D degrees and have industrial experience, especially in Computer Science, IT, and Mechanical Engineering.
Professors take joint handling of teaching theory with practical labs, projects, and seminars, promoting industry readiness, although some students understand that a few least sought branches cling to conventional lectures.

In general, the faculty here is experienced, chiefly with most senior teachers having M.Tech or PhDs, particularly from the Computer Engineering and Information Technology streams. They generally have a decent record in terms of qualification and are also quite supportive; they are open to giving additional guidance, even out of the classroom.

Candidates seeking admission to L.J. Institute of Engineering and Technology for B.E./B.Tech should have secured a minimum of 60% marks in the 10+2 standard, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The admission to the colleges is done through GUJCET or JEE Main and by counseling done by Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC) for 75% of the seats.

JEE Main ranks are required for admission to BTech courses at the L.J. Institute of Engineering and Technology (L.J.I.E.T). The ranks for admission in 2024 varied from 9056 to 22840 based on different rounds, the category to which the student belongs, and the specialisation of BTech in which the student is interested. Admission to the L.J. Institute of Engineering and Technology (L.J.I.E.T) can be moderately competitive. The college offers only BTech, MBA, MCA, and MTech courses. Admission to all these courses is done based on the scores obtained in entrance exams such as JEE Main exam for BTech and GATE for MTech. To be eligible for these exams, the candidates need to have a minimum of 45% marks in their previous qualification in a relevant stream.

L.J. Institute of Engineering and Technology (L.J.I.E.T) admissions for B.E./B.Tech have been opened as of April 2025 for the academic session 2025-26. In the first week of January 2025, registration for the GUJCET 2025 counseling for B.E./B.Tech courses started.
The last date for this was on May 20, 2025. The list for seat allotment for round 1 is expected to be out by June 13, 2025. The candidate may also apply to the Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC) for 75% seats, or through the institute's website for the remaining 25% NRI/management quota, as eligibility requires 60% in 10+2 (Science) and having a valid GUJCET
