The course duration is five and a half years (66 months), including one year of Compulsory Rotating Medical Internship (CRMI). IMS offers MBBS in affiliation with Banaras Hindu University (BHU). Admission to the programme is based on the applicants' performance in the NEET UG entrance exam, subject to the fulfillment of preset eligibility criteria.

As of now, not much information is available on MBBS placements at IMS BHU. Based on the available information, IMS BHU graduates are placed at top recruiting organisations, such as AIIMS, Fortis Healthcare, Apollo Hospitals, Max Hospitals, etc. The median salary packages offered during UG (5-year) placements as per the overall BHU NIRF Report 2024 are presented in the table below:

Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU BSc admission is subject to clearing the NEET UG cut-off prescribed for the particular admission year. The cut-off also varies depending on the caste/reservation category of the applicants. Based on the previous year's cut-off,  the NEET UG rank at which BSc admission was granted to General category candidates is around 1.06 Lacs (for the last round). In 2023, the closing rank for the General category candidates was 27,931.
