IPMAT or the Integrated Program in Management Entrance Exam is conducted by IIM Indore, is one of its kind. Right after Class 12, it enables the candidates to get admission into one of the most prestigious B-Schools of the country, i.e., IIM Indore. IPMAT scores are now accepted by other top management institutes such as IIFT, IIM Amrtisar, IIM Shillong, IIM Sirmaur, IIM Ranchi,  Alliance University,  NICMAR University,  Department of Management Studies, NALSAR University of Law and Institute of Management, Nirma University

So, as for the scope of IPM, it is very broad, just like that of the PGDM from any top Indian Institute of Management. 

Yes, even if the students are from the commerce stream without maths, they can still prepare for the IPMAT exam without coaching. The formal coaching has its own perks, but students can also fetch good marks with IPMAT self-preparation. IPMAT exam preparation without coaching may require the students to put in extra effort but it is possible. 

Students can refer to NCERT mathematics books from Class 9 to Class 12 for starters. The important topics would include arithmetic, algebra, geometry, mensuration, etc. 

For the VA section preparation, students can begin their preparation by reading newspapers and editorials every day. The important topics include grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, etymology and roots, etc. Students can also refer to online resources such as Youtube lecture, online study groups, education wesbite, etc. to prepare for the IPMAT exam without coaching. 

Students should not begin preparing for new topics in the last few days of the IPMAT exam. This will only cram their mind and they may falter. However, they must revise the key topics of the IPMAT syllabus.  Students should also take ample mokc tests and solve previous years' question papers to know the key topics. They must focus on topics such as algebra, geometry, trigonometry. For the VA section, students should strengthen their vocabulary with the help of newspapers and editorials and practice grammar exercises. 

Students should not forget to revise important formulas, theorems, and concepts for mathematics, and practice solving problems related to these topics.

Yes, students who are in Class 12 or are awaiting their Class 12 board results can certainly apply for the IPMAT Indore exam. The basic eligibility criteria for appearing for the IPMAT 2026 exam is as follows:

• The candidate should have scored a minimum of 60% aggregate in Class 10/SSC and Class 12/ HSC or equivalent examination in the case of the General and NC-OBC categories.

• The candidates must have passed the qualifying examination in 2024, 2025, or in 2026.

• Also, the candidate should be a maximum of 20 years of age as of July 31, 2026.

• The candidate should have scored a minimum of 55% aggregate in Class 10/SSC and Class 12/ HSC or equivalent examination in the case of SC, ST and PWD (DA) categories.

• Applicants in Class 12 or awaiting the results are also eligible to apply provisionally. 

Yes, Class 12 mathematics is relevant to IPMAT exam. The exam relies heavily on the mathematics component. In the IPMAT question paper, there are two sections on Quantitative Ability and one on Verbal Ability. IPMAT is one of the most sought after competitive exams after Class 12 for students seeking admissions to BBA programmes. Higher level Maths dominates the exam. Usually, more than 60% of all the QA questionsare from Class 11 and Class 12 syllabus. Calculus and Class 12 Maths form a large portion of questions in IPMAT. To score well in the IPMAT exam, students must be very clear with the concepts of NCERT Mathematics to score well in IPMAT.
