It's normal practice in any MCQ type of paper to have negative marking. This is to prevent students from randomly marking answers even if they are not knowing ABC of it. It has been observed that many students have a tendency to mark answers whenever no negative marking is prescribed with the hope of getting few marks simply by stroke of luck. Here in JEE Mains, authorities have therefore decided to have negative marking @1 mark per wrong answer which is quite liberal and not stiff. However, knowing this, I suggest you must attempt to answers all questions first where you feel that you have found correct answer. After this

Its good to know the confidence in oneself that you are showing. With marks that you are expecting, there are large number colleges viz different NITs, IIITs etc. All such colleges that are going to admit students based on JEE Mains rank are mentioned on 'JEE-Mains' website. Just browse through and you will have enough knowledge.
Best wishes.

Incase for private you should have 100+ or even 90+.
For government,120 will take you to top NIT's and will also qualify you for JEE Advanced.
If you are SC reserved,85 is fine to get into NIT's ,same for ST reserved too.

In the information brochure which is officially released, it does not reveal anything about the number of questions that you will have to answer. It only says that all three parts will have equal weight-age. Each correct question will earn four marks. Each wrong question will fetch one negative mark and unanswered question will fetch no marks. But, going by last year's data, you will need to answer 90 questions. You can calculate yourself how many maximum marks you can score if you do not attempt certain questions.

SAT and JEE are entirely different hence comparing them will make little sense. JEE tests a different skill set while SAT is entirely different. To do well in SAT, you must be extremely well in English and the level of mathematics is a little easier as compared to JEE for obvious reasons. That said, a very good SAT score can land you up in a top university in the world.
