Your All India Rank (AIR) is used for:

CUCET / Direct Admission Route

If you don't appear in JEE, CU conducts its own Chandigarh University Common Entrance Test (CUCET) or considers 12th marks for merit-based admission.

CSE / core CS & related: You likely needed a rank under ~80–90 k — which may mean a high‑to‑mid JEE Main percentile when competition and applicant pool are large.

Branches like ECE / similar electronics‑type: Cutoff ranks are higher (i.e. ≤ ~110–120 k), so percentiles lower than those needed for CSE — but still moderately competitive.

For IT / AI‑ML / other specialized‑CS‑adjacent branches: The competition is high (similar to CSE), so expect cutoffs comparable to CSE or slightly below (if fewer applicants opt for them).
