For admission to a variety of engineering schools, such as GFTIs, NITs, IIITs, and IITs, JEE counseling is required.Both general admissions and the open category seat filling process employ the CRL rank. It is the total ranking that a candidate receives as a result of their JEE exam performance.The category rank is taken into account for reserved category seats (such as SC, ST, OBC-NCL, EWS, and PwD). There is fierce rivalry for admission to DTU, one of the best engineering schools in India. Generally, DTU admissions cutoff ranks are substantially lower. The cutoff ranks for general category students typically fall between the thousands and lower ten thousand, contingent upon the engineering discipline and category (general, OBC, SC, ST, etc.). Students who live in Delhi have a sizable reservation at DTU. The cutoff ranks are higher and the competition is significantly more intense for non-residents. 

Candidates can appear in JEE Main irrespective of their percentage in class 12. Candidates must note that there is no requirement for JEE Main eligibility marks in 12th for appearing in the exam. The eligibility criteria of 75% marks is applicable only at the time of taking admission to the institute. Only those candidates who have passed the Class 12/equivalent examination in 2022, 2023, or appearing in 2024 are eligible to appear in JEE Main 2024. Candidates who passed the Class 12/equivalent examination in 2021 or before as well as those who will appear in such examination in 2025 or later are not eligible to appear in JEE Main 2024.

One of Shiv Nadar University's most popular specialisations is BTech CSE. Candidates can apply using their JEE Mains results to be considered for admission to Shiv Nadar University's BTech programme. The candidate is qualified for direct admission if their score is 80 percent or higher. The candidate should apply using the results of the SNUSAT and APT tests if their score is less than the 80 percentile. Applicants who score in the 77.7 percentile on JEE Main may be able to get into SNU's BTech programme. In Class 12, the overall criterion is at least 65%. Candidates with a similar or higher score can enrol in SNU Noida's BTech CSE degree with ease.

India's two most esteemed engineering institutes are Delhi Technological University (DTU) and National School of Engineering (NSUT). As to the web material, a candidate's JEE Mains general category rank must be less than 10,000 in order to be admitted and guaranteed a seat at DTU. In other words, your JEE Mains score needs to be at least higher than the 99.2 percentile. Your percentile for the top branches of NSUT should be 98+. In 2023, the closing rank for the NSUT East Campus B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering (IOT) was 9676, and the closing rank for the B.Tech.

SASTRA University BTech admission criteria are divided into two streams and they are as mentioned below:

Stream 1: JEE Mains + Class 12 marks (50% weightage given to each), for admission to 50% of the total seats

Stream 2: Class 12 marks (100% weightage), for admission to the remaining 50%

For 50% of the total seats, the University accepts JEE Main scores and for the rest of the seats, admission is done based on the merit secured by the candidate in the qualifying exam.

The score obtained at 35 percentile will not be much favorable in JEE Main. With such a percentile, candidates will not qualify for the counselling process and will not be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced examination. However the candidate may use the board exam scores to obtain a seat.
