India's two most esteemed engineering institutes are Delhi Technological University (DTU) and National School of Engineering (NSUT). SASTRA University BTech admission criteria are divided into two streams and they are as mentioned below:

Stream 1: JEE Mains + Class 12 marks (50% weightage given to each), for admission to 50% of the total seats

Stream 2: Class 12 marks (100% weightage), for admission to the remaining 50%

For 50% of the total seats, the University accepts JEE Main scores and for the rest of the seats, admission is done based on the merit secured by the candidate in the qualifying exam.

The score obtained at 35 percentile will not be much favorable in JEE Main. With such a percentile, candidates will not qualify for the counselling process and will not be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced examination. However the candidate may use the board exam scores to obtain a seat.

The good news is that a number of universities, such as NITs and IIITs, accept JEE Main low scores up to 2,000,000. It is followed by NIT Sikkim, which has a JEE Main rank of 639272 for B.Tech. EEE, and NIT Agartala, which has a JEE Main rank of 287950 for B.Tech. Biotech & Bio Chem Engineering. Therefore a rank of 9 Lacs can also have a chance of getting into colleges.

The eligibility criteria for admission in IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs are decided by the institute and not by NTA. JEE Main eligibility criteria decided by NTA are only meant for appearing in the examination. Candidates belonging to SC/ST need to have at least 60% marks. However, the criteria of marks in class 12 is lower in states like Uttar Pradesh (U.P.), Madhya pradesh (M.P.), Bihar, which accept JEE Main score for admission to BTech courses.
