A general rank of more than 2 Lacs in JEE Main, your options in JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) counseling will primarily focus on selecting engineering colleges and programs where the cutoff ranks typically extend beyond the top ranks, include a wide range of institutes and branches in your preferred list. This increases your chances of securing a seat in a college that aligns with your preferences and matches your rank.Look into NITs, IIITs, and other GFTIs (Government Funded Technical Institutes) that historically have lower cutoff ranks or more available seats in later rounds of counseling.

NIT Trichy is highly regarded for its engineering programs, admission with a rank of 8 Lacs in JEE Main is unlikely due to high competition and lower cutoff ranks. Evaluate your options carefully, explore alternative institutions, and plan your next steps accordingly to pursue your engineering education effectively.
For General category candidates, admission to NITs typically requires ranks within the top few Lacs (e.g., up to approximately 2-3 Lacs depending on the branch and institute).JEE Main ranks are based on the performance of candidates relative to others who appeared for the exam.
