The Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Orissa was established in November 2002 through an act of the Government. Today the University has 137 colleges, both constituent and associated with around 1 lakh students. Located in Rourkela Biju Patnaik University of Technology was established in 2002 under the public-private partnership model. The Government has instituted multiple merit-cum-means scholarships amounting to INR 10,000 per student annually for those studying professional courses in Technical Institutions.
