The changing pattern of the JEE Advanced exam can be due to various reasons:

  • One of the reason can be to check how the students perform under pressure and how weel they adapt.
  • To check how the students can deal with problems and unfamiliar formats.
  • To eliminate the candidates who rote learn.

JEE Advanced is on the toughest exam for selection to the most premiere colleges of the nation - IITs. Therefore to add to the difficulty level, the pattern is kept undiclosed until the exam day.

The JEE Advanced exam pattern is dynamic. It changes every year. The only known aspect of the JEE Advanced exam pattern are:

  1. The number of papers: There are two papers - paper 1 and paper 2.
  2. The exam mode: The JEE Advanced exam is held in computer based test mode.
  3. Duration: The exam is held for 6 hours. Each paper is of 3 hours.
  4. Subjects: Each question papers has questions from three sections - Maths, Physics and Chemistry

JEE Advanced pattern will change every year in terms of making scheme and the kinds of questions asked (MCQs, match the following, paragraph type, numerical answer type.)

After JEE Main session 2 results are announced candidates must first consider their preferred course/institution and their score/performance in the exam.

For candidates who have performed well in JEE Main session 2 securing above 98th Percentile score - should prepare for the JEE Advanced entrance exam.

Candidates who have scored below 98th percentile may choose to appear for JEE Main during the next academic session.

You can prepare for all entrance tests at same time. It is a tough task but not impossible. For this a proper strategy is required. Here are some important tips.

The aspirant must study the syllabus for all exams and find out the topics that are extra, and prepare those separately. In NEET entrance test, the weightage of Class 11 Physics Chapter 11 Thermodynamics is around 7%. Students should thoroughly understand the thermodynamic laws and internal energy. The medical entrance test includes theory and numerically-based questions. For JEE Main, the chapter has more significance, and it has nearly 15% weightage of the total Physics syllabus.
