It depends where your interest lies. If you want to join the state administration at the sub-divisional level, as a sub-divisional magistrate, and look after law and order, general administration and development work in the area under your charge, you should opt for a career as an IAS. Journalism, on the other hand, is a different sector. If you fancy reporting news, editing, videography, news anchoring and such, Journalism is the right field for you. Also, you can pursue both because IAS is a highly competitive exam. The chances of cracking the exam cannot be speculated at all. You also need to be a graduate to be eligible to apply

Well, both law and journalism are the most dynamic career to pursue in 2018. Both of them have their own perquisites and also are in trend among youngsters. However, both have good placement opportunities and you can't really compare both the courses as they are different altogether and have benefits in their fields. Law would also land you in open independent practice and firms and so will journalism a freelancer and in a news agency, etc.

Some institutes are known to offer Diploma courses to 10th passed students though. The quality and validity of such Diploma courses are questionable. Ultimately, such courses are not very useful, when it comes to finding a job using them.
In short, it is better to complete 11th and 12th standards and then pursue a good (and recognized) journalism course.
Regards.

It's not so difficult to get into the top colleges, all you've to do is, get old of a current affairs book, read the news paper on a daily basis and stay updated with what's happening around the world. Also, please focus on your English. And in some colleges, focus on basic maths too. Some colleges also have Group Discussion and Personal interview so you'll have to prepare for that as well.
