Hi Siddharth,
It's not so difficult to get into the top colleges, all you've to do is, get old of a current affairs book, read the news paper on a daily basis and stay updated with what's happening around the world. Also, please focus on your English. And in some colleges, focus on basic maths too. Some colleges also have Group Discussion and Personal interview so you'll have to prepare for that as well.

Yes, Journalism has a great scope in India. One can work as a reporter, correspondent, cameraperson, columnist, editor, feature journalist, critic and so on. Starting salary for Journalism would be between Rs 12,000 and 25,000 depending on your people and communication skills. After 5-years of work experience, a professional can expect a higher salary in the range of Rs 50,000 to Rs 1,00,000 per month.

For MBA entrance exams, dates are already over. If the exam is already given, then for both the courses MBA as well as journalism institutes call for entrance test or interview process in the month of May or first half of June. You must prepare a time table for this. It consists every aspect of quantitative aptitude as well as reasoning. Read the newspaper and general knowledge books daily for current affairs and read articles of journals and magazines. All the best.
