St. Xavier's College of Kolkata has set up certain eligibility criteria for its MA course. The candidates need to complete Higher secondary studies in any stream from any recognised board with at least an aggregate of 55% or above. Admission to the MA course at St. Xavier's College is based on merit. Candidates shall check the eligibility criteria before starting the admission prorcess. Usually, it's BA Sociology/BA (Hons) Sociology or BA in a similar field from a recognised university. Securing a minimum of 55% aggregate is also important. There is no upper age limit for the programme. The MA in Sociology discusses the evolution of society and the issues it has faced since ancient times.

MA History and Archaeology, also known as Master of Arts in History and Archaeology, is a postgraduate History degree programme. It is the study of recently documented times through material culture and literature. Students who have done their Bachelor of Arts degree or an equivalent qualification from a recognised university can apply for this course. They also need to have a minimum of 50% aggregate in their Bachelor's degree.

There is no age limit to pursue Ph.D. in any University. For Ph.D., there are two methods a candidate can follow.
- Clearing NET/JRF
- Entrance Test
Let us discuss both the options one by one in detail. In some Universities, the UGC NET qualified candidates are exempted from the obligation of an entrance test and they have to appear for the interview only. By virtue of their NET/JRF qualification, they get an exemption from entrance tests for M.Phil./Ph.D. courses in some Universities.

By doing MA in economics you have developed a very good analytical skills and strong Foundation by learning theoretical as well as practical skills that will help you in solving real life problems. Economic and Management are two different things. You can definitely do PhD in management, specially in the areas like Business economics, managerial economics, organisational behaviour, strategic management and financial management .
