First of all, you have to determine what age group or class of students you wish to teach or check which classes they are eligible to teach. Once you know it, you can set a goal. Now, let us find the major teaching posts available in the government schools you can opt for.
1 Pre Primary Teacher
As the name suggests, this post is for a pre primary teaching job. The teachers are responsible for teaching the classes of nursery or kindergarten.
2 Primary Teacher or PRT
A primary teacher is responsible for classes 1 to 5.
3 Trained Graduate Teacher or TGT
TGTs are responsible for classes 6 to 8. However, with promotions they are eligible for teaching up to 10th grades.
4 Post Graduate Teacher or PGT
PGTs are eligible to teach up to 12th graders. They are postgraduates and they specialize in specific subjects. The minimum eligibility criteria for PRT, TGT and PGT are different. However, a common eligibility criteria for the PRT, TGT and PGT is qualifying CTET or TET examination conducted by the CBSE or State Governments respectively. The candidates have to clear the CTET or TET examination. Once the candidates have cleared the examination of CTET or TET, they become eligible to apply for job openings available in various government schools.
