Yes, you can write the entrance exam. If you have successfully cleared all your semester exams up till now with the pre-requisite aggregate (that you'll find in the e-prospectus) and if you're positive you'll clear the finals too, go ahead and apply. The course you mentioned is a good one. I would advise you to take up the course you like. Also Xavier's is a well-known college, but first select the course you feel is appropriate and then search for top colleges for that particular course.

The purpose of the exam UGC NET (University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test) is for selection of candidates for posts of only Assistant Professor or both Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor in Indian universities and colleges. Why you want to go for MA in Hindi, there is no link in between the two.

The official website says candidates should have philosophy as one of their subjects in graduation or candidates should have graduation from national/foreign university recognised by BHU and a post graduate diploma in Indian philosophy and religion with 50% aggregate at both the courses.

Eligibility Information: Candidates should have passed B.A/B.Com/B.Sc with Telugu as second Language or BA with special Telugu.
