Pursuing an MD in Cardiology after completing a BSc in Cardiovascular Technology is not typically a direct path.

To specialize in Cardiology as a medical doctor, you would generally need to pursue MBBS. After completing MBBS, you would need to undergo further specialisation (MD or MS) in cardiology through a residency program.

This pathway involves several years of rigorous medical education and clinical training to become a qualified cardiologist.

DM in Cardiology is a 3 year, high level and super specialty PG course for doctors to become experts in diagnosing, treating and managing diffiult heart and blood vessel diseases.

As the highest level of training, it involves hands on experience in focused areas like cath labs (interventional), electrophysiology and also advanced imaging - following a MD in Medicine or Pediatrics.

Hope this helped your query! All the best!

No doing an MD in General Medicine followed by a DM in Cardiology does not qualify you to perform open heart surgeries. That path leads to becoming an Interventional Cardiologist - who treats heart conditions using non surgical catheter based procedures (like angioplasty/stents). To perform open heart surgeries you must train as a Cardiothoracic Surgeon.

Hope this helped your query! All the best!

No, there is no MD (Doctor of Medicine) programme in Cardiology after the M.Sc. (Master of Science) in Cardiology in India. M.Sc. In Cardiology is a postgraduate programme that focuses on the study of the cardiovascular system, its diseases, and treatment options.
