No this is not necessary because NID and NIFT conducts their own entrance exam for M.Des admissions. However one can get admission in top design institutes in M.Des courses through CEED. The objective of the Common Entrance Exam for Design CEED is to assess the candidates aptitude for design involving visual perception ability, drawing skills, logical reasoning, creativity, communication, and problem solving skills. CEED is conducted by IIT Bombay. It is a qualifying examination for admission to Master of Design M.Des programmes at IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Kanpur and IIITDM Jabalpur, and to Ph.D. programmes in Design at IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, and IIT Kanpur. Qualifying in CEED alone does not guarantee admission to any of these programmes. Admitting institutes may conduct further tests and / or interviews for the final selection / admission. The CEED 2021 score is valid for a period of one year from the date of declaration of the result.

The eligibility criteria of CEED is given below. Eligibility: Candidates must have completed a degree / Diploma / post graduate degree programme of minimum 3 years (after 10+2 level), or must be appearing for the final examination of such a programme by July 2021, or must have passed the GD Arts Diploma programme (10+5 level) by July 2021. Note that the eligibility criteria for admission to various institutes may differ from the eligibility criteria for appearing for CEED. Before applying for CEED. Candidates are advised to check whether they meet the required eligibility criteria for admission to various institutes. There is no age limit to appear for CEED. A candidate can appear for CEED any number of times. So from above, because you are in 7th semester of your B.Tech course so you are not eligible for CEED. However you can be eligible in 8th/ Final semester of your B.Tech course.
