Go for general biotechnology. It will give you the scope to clear GATE and u can pursue mtech thereafter. Marine biotech, pharmaceutical biotech are also prospective. All the best.

There are a very few students going for this course hence the competition level initailly goes down. Another factor to consider is there are a lot of opportunities available for this course in the coming time with increasing population in govt sector as well as in private sector. So in my opinion it has good scope in near future. Also some good universities -

Apply to IITs, IISC or IISER for p.hd in india as they hv few of the best options for research. In abroad, canada would be one I suggest for two reasons. Firstly, it is a safe country for girls and secondly you might get 4 years funding for your p.hd there. Other than this, USA, UK,Australia are also good options.
