In India, admission to a Master of Science programme generally requires a completed undergraduate degree—with no active arrears—by the time of final enrolment. While many entrance tests (e.g., JAM, CUET PG) allow candidates to apply with pending backlogs or “result? awaited” status, universities and the UGC mandate that all arrears must be cleared before the start of the postgraduate course. UGC guidelines grant a two? year grace period beyond the scheduled duration of a bachelor's or master's programme to clear backlog papers, but admission cannot be confirmed until those backlogs are resolved.

Yes, it seems Central University of Kerala does try to help M.Sc. Geology students with placements. They have a placement cell that works across departments and even a specific placement person for the Geology department. While exact numbers for Geology placements aren't always easy to find, the university does place postgraduate students in general. Some past students have even mentioned getting opportunities in places like ISRO.

For the clearest picture, it's best to check the Geology department's page on the university's website or contact them directly. They'll have the most up-to-date info on what kind of placement support and oppor

With this rank, it is difficult to get top NITs like Rourkela, Warangal, or Durgapur, especially for General or OBC candidates. However, you still have chances at NIT Jalandhar (for M.Sc. Life Sciences or related courses), NIT Manipur, and NIT Sikkim through later rounds of CCMN counselling, as Life Sciences seats are easier to get than pure Biotechnology. If you belong to the SC or ST category, your chances are better, and you can aim for NIT Rourkela, NIT Durgapur, NIT Jalandhar, or IIIT Allahabad in related fields.
