Manipal University admissions are entirelyy entrance-based. Except for a few courses, where candidates are selected through the merit obtained in their last qualifying exam or by qualifying for Department specific tets for the respective courses. Apart from that, for courses like BBA, MA, BTech, BPharm, etc. candidates must appear for Manipal Entrance Test (MET), followed by other selection rounds.

Admission to the courses is based on candidates' performance in the NEET PG exam, followed by the Karnataka NEET PG counselling process. As per the 2024 cutoff, the Karnataka NEET PG closing rank for admission to MS in Obstetrics and Gynaecology was 5970 during the first round for the General AI category students. 

Manipal University DASA UG cutoff 2022 was released across multiple BTech specilaisations for different categories. Among all the BTech courses the most competitive was Aeronautical Engineering with a last-round closing rank of 377. Manipal University accepts NEET SS for admission to the DM and MCh courses. As per the 2023 last-round cutoff, the closing ranks ranged between 2576 and 5892 for the General AI category candidates. Among all the DM specialisations, the most competitive was DM in Infectious Disease, followed by DM in Gastroenterology and DM in Cardiology, with last-round closing ranks of 2576, 2844, and 3713, respectively.
