Every year admission process starts in May and the interviews are scheduled for the end of June.
Let me tell you about the selection process, every year 26 students are selected out of which 13 seats are reserved for different castes. The 26 that are selected hail from various states, say every year only 2 students or a max of 3 can be selected from one particular state (this is not stated in the rules and regulations but this is a fact that you will come to know once you go through the selection process).

Age limit is 20-30 years (for SC ST up to 35 years)
Minimum 6 full-length plays performed.
Some knowledge of direction, stage architecture and lighting is required.
If you have are a trained singer or dancer, it will add wonders to your application.
When you go for the interview, you will have to give a written test first which is a very interesting. (if you have love for theater).
After that, you will be called one by one for the personal interview where they will ask you everything you know about theater. You will have to perform an act and probably they will ask you to sing and dance as well. So prepare one act, one song to sing and also some dance steps.
Note: Make sure that you take your performance CDs and writings when you go for the interview.

FTII
For most of the courses, you need a Bachelor's degree (certain courses like sound Design and art direction need a specific degree).
You can apply online. The admissions usually open around June, keep checking their website regularly for updates. They also announce admission openings in newspapers.
The first process is a written test (at the closest venue provided by them for you). Once you clear that, you need to appear for a personal interview, with a panel of film experts and FTII faculty.
This is the final stage. Clear this and you are officially a student at FTII.

To start your modeling career, you'll first need to think about the type of modeling you want to do i.e. print, commercial, runway, fitness and plus-size. Many agencies specialise in a particular type of modeling, so you need to figure out your niche and put together a portfolio that reflects your style. This should include headshots with varied expressions (serious, playful), and full-length shots in different outfits. To find local modeling agencies, use the Internet to google your town and modeling agency. It's a good idea to enlist the help of a parent or trusted adult at this point to help you contact the agencies. There are a lot of scams out there, so you want to be careful if an agency asks for money up front, chances are they are probably not legit. Find out how each agency handles submissions, often via mail-in or open call. Once you've submitted your portfolio, give the agency a month before you follow up with a phone call. In the meantime, you can also look for other modeling opportunities in your community. Check with the local fashion design schools, department stores or your favorite boutiques to see if they need models for upcoming fashion shows. Modeling is a career that takes a lot of persistence and since it probably won't pay your bills for a while at least, it is a good idea to have a backup plan. A lot of aspiring models work part-time while in high school and college or supplement their income with another job. Take notes from some of the fashion's greatest models Heidi Klum and Tyra Banks who were able to turn their passion for modeling into flourishing business enterprises. While we can't all hit the big-time like them, it is a smart idea to think about what else you can do to enhance your modeling career, like majoring in business, fashion design or communications. With talent, hard work, and great training, the sky is the limit.
