Mass media is the collection of the means that big media outlets use to distribute their media content, so basically the different types of mass media; e.g. television broadcasting, print newspaper, radio broadcasting, and so on.
Mass communication, on the other hand, is the study of how these types work, basically, thinking about how radio or TV stations communicate their content with the consumer.
Clearly, these two concepts are not entirely distinct from each other.
