The department of Management at BIT Mesra was established in the year 1979 with the aim of serving the growing need for qualified professionals who could harness the resources of the country to achieve its development goals. The department has continuously strive to achieve this aim by maintaining the highest standards in the Post Graduate (MBA) and Doctoral Programmes offered by it since its inception. The vision of the department today is to be recognised as a frontrunner in Management education in the country in consonance with the social, economic and ecological environment while striving to contribute to nation building through excellence in research and development activities. The department follows the philosophy of Outcome Based Education. Therefore, the teaching-learning process is student centric.
The pedagogy is practical, hands on and real time. Case studies, Problem Solving Exercises, Role- Plays, Management Games and Presentations are extensively used. The curriculum is planned to facilitate learning in theory and practice of all aspects of the discipline of management ensuring the achievement of predefined learning outcomes.

1. You should do a marketing internship. If you are serious about doing MBA then going for a technical internship won't help much. Marketing experience, on the other hand, will help you during college interviews. Plus, you will gain invaluable insights on how 'management' works. There are various streams within marketing you could do an internship in fields like digital marketing, business development, customer relationships, market research, etc. Now, what you choose totally depends on what you like. Yes, the internship will certainly add to your profile. Let's take my example. In the last 6 months, even though I was interning in editorial profile, I have learnt how email marketing works, how companies target their newsletters, how companies use Google ads to get more visibility, how ad-sales work, how SEO works and I could go on and on. Fortunately, I was working at a startup and I had exposure to every aspect of the company. During my tenure, I also managed the FB page and made newsletters. If now I go for an MBA, I could tell them about my experience of getting in touch with the CEOs and Head HRs of various reputed companies (like Bajaj Capital, PVR, Accenture, Biocon, Woodland, etc. ). With regards to several features (articles) that we did on their internship programs. I have interviewed some of them over the telephone which, for me, is a big deal!
