As of now, there are vacant MBBS seats in various medical colleges across India. For instance, the state of West Bengal has several government and private colleges with available seats. Some of the colleges with vacant MBBS seats include:
- AIIMS Kalyani (125 seats)
- Midnapore Medical College (200 seats)

No, students are not allowed to change colleges after completing the first year of MBBS due to the new Graduate Medical Education Regulations-2023. These regulations state that students cannot migrate to any other medical institution.
The previous rule allowed students to migrate if they were physically challenged, had a serious illness, or their parents were transferred to a distant town.
