In 2023, the general category cutoff for MBBS admissions at Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute was 1218878. The closing rank in 2022 was 642541. Given the increasing demand for engineering education in India, this trend is probably here to stay. In India, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) oversees a centralized counseling process that is used for MBBS admissions. The specific cutoffs are kept confidential by each participating medical college. NEET UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) ranks, which are percentile ranks based on the results of the national entrance test, are used to make the selection.

There is no placement after MBBS. During internship in lok nayak hospital students are given 23000 per month currently and after clearing PG entrance and taking admission salary of 90000 is given per month

The internship is offered for 1 year and is mandatory after completing 4.5 years. The schedule is hectic but prepares us well for our upcoming jobs as physicians and surgeons. The stipend is also good for the internship.
