You can leave this to his choice whether he wants to pursue Computer Science and Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. If you force him for something it may hamper his future. But if talking of choice of institutions Patna, Bhopal and Jaipur are always ahead of New NITs whether it's CSE or ME.
