See UDIT Doing mechanical engineering is not like doing MBA ao u need not to do any short term course. It will be a total time waste. Instead of that prepare yourself for your engineering degree 1st year courseware. Read and Learn subjects like Mathematics, Chemistry, Mechanics, Physics this will help you there not those short term courses.

Both the choices you are considering are pretty well. So, you can approach in any direction, however I will suggest you to go for NITs only because government colleges do have bit of edge than a private colleges no matter how good it is. Best wishes.

Yes, there is possibility of getting into ECE or mech but you try CSE also. Please participate in the counselling conducted by AU from June 5th onwards.
