All applicants applying for the M.Des. Programme (any discipline) in NID must fulfill both the following criteria; of age and education qualification.
Age Limit:
For Indian Nationals in General Category: Upper age limit for candidates is 30 years as on 30 June 2018. Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 1988 are eligible to apply for admission.
Educational Qualification:
In addition to the above, the candidate must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications to be considered eligible for admissions:
Bachelor degree of minimum 4-year duration in any specialisation, after 10+2 system, from any university or institute recognised by law in India. Condition: Applicant must (have passed/have appeared for/be appearing for) the Bachelor degree examinations before July 2018.
or
Bachelor degree of minimum 3-year duration in any specialisation, under the 10+2 system. Condition: Applicants must have passed the Bachelor degree examinations before July 2017.
or
Full-time Diploma of minimum 4-year duration in Design/Fine Arts/Applied Arts/ Architecture, after 10+2 system, from any university or institute recognised by law in India. Condition: Applicants must (have passed/have appeared for/be appearing for) the Diploma examinations before July 2018.

Eligibility For PG courses (MS) : Students are expected to have at least 70-75% from a reputed Indian University. They are also required to appear for GRE (by some Universities) and a score of above 300 should do the needful. Also, it can boost a student's profile if he or she appears for the course even though the University has not requested for it. IELTS (6.0) or TOEFL (100) is also required.
The courses meant for international students are called International study programs and are taught in English. Hence, students looking for courses exclusively in English must look under the section specified above for their course or under Internationals'. Unless, a student has sound knowledge of German language no point in opting for courses taught in German otherwise. Some courses also have the option of doing a dissertation in German for which students need to prove their efficiency in German beforehand.
The students willing to learn German must do it through certified sources and in India students need to contact only Max Muller Bhavan and clear TesDaf. The level to be cleared is generally specified on the University website as it depends on what percentage of classes are conducted in German.
