TANCET exam is considered moderate in terms of difficulty. For MBA exams, the difficulty standards is typically compared with the CAT exam. In comparison with the CAT difficulty level, TANCET is considered easy to crack. This is because the total number of test takers is less if compared to CAT exam, additionally, the difficulty level of the questions asked is easier than the CAT exam.
Duration of the TANCET exam is two hours. Candidates need to answers as many as 100 questions within 120 minutes. Therefore, for each question, candidates have more than one minute to land at an answers. TANCET exam duration is not divided into sections. TANCET question papers or mock tests are simulation of the actual exam. Candidates will come across questions and test structure similar to that followed in any of the exam. Candidates must analyse where they lag while practising the past years TANCET question papers. If they find any particular topic difficult they must revisit the same before it gets too late. In case the candidates know the answers to all the questions yet are not able to complete the exam on time, they must work on some strategies to increase the speed. Candidates must keep a check on which questions they consumed the most time and which questions they were not able to answers to know their weaknesses.

TANCET scores are valid for a period of one year. Candidates aspiring for admission in 2024-25 exam session can only use the TANCET 2024 scores for admission. Candidates who wish for an MBA Admission in any of the TANCET participating colleges in 2025-26 batch must appear for TANCET 2025. Irrespective of the 2024 score, DTE Tamil Nadu will not consider the TANCET 2024 scores for 2025 admission. Similarly, candidates planning to apply for MBA Admission in 2025-26 batch, must apply for the TANCET 2025 exam.
TANCET results will host the actual score of the candidate so that he/she can analyse the individual performance. Whereas, TANCET scorecard will not have actual score. With percentile score in the TANCET scorecard, candidates will be able to display his/her relative performance. This would help in evaluating performance of the candidate in comparison to the other test takers.
Typically, Anna University releases the TANCET scorecard a week after the declaration of the TANCET results. Candidates need to download the TANCET scorecard to participate in the further admission processes; however, TANCET results need not be saved for future references.
Anna University releases the TANCET results within a month of the exam date. In the past sessions as well, Anna University has released the TANCET results nearly a month after the exam was held. The table below mentions the past year's exam date and result date.

Soon after the release of the TANCET results, Anna University schedules the release of TANCET scorecard. Candidates can download the TANCET scorecard using the same link within a specified period. After closing of the window to download the scorecard, candidates have to pay a processing fee to get the duplicate TANCET scorecard. TANCET scorecard and hall ticket is required at the time of document verification.

TANCET counselling process commences soon after the scorecard download window is closed. Typically, the counselling process for TANCET MBA admission commences within a month of the scorecard download window close date. In the past exam session, i.e. TANCET 2023 counselling, TANCET scorecard download window was closed on May 20 and the counselling process commenced on June 1. Unlike the exam events, candidates can find the TANCET counselling schedule on the Tamil Nadu MBA web counselling portal. Alternatively, GCT, Coimbatore releases the TANCET counselling press release mentioning the start date and end dates. Candidates can stay tuned to Shiksha's TANCET counselling webpage for current status of the TANCET counselling.
Candidates are allotted a seat during TANCET counselling based on the following reservation criteria:
- Open Competition (OC): 31%
- Backward Classes (BC): 26.5%
- Most Backward Class and Identified Communities: 20%
- SC (Arunthathiyar): 3%
- Scheduled Caste: 15%
- Scheduled Tribes: 1%
- Backward Class Muslims: 3.5%
The reservation criteria mentioned above was followed during the Tamil Nadu MBA Admission 2023. DTE, Chennai, will release the updated reservation criteria along with the TANCET counselling brochure 2024.
