Mechanical Engineering is a core and evergreen branch. Almost all core industries and manufacturing units makes use of machines. Thus, for functioning and maintenance of machines, qualified Mechanical Engineers are needed by such Industries!
The point is- there are ample amounts of job opportunities for BE./B.Tech. Mechanical Engineering graduates in Government as well as Private sector. When it comes to Government sector, organizations and departments like- Indian Railways, DRDO, Indian Armed Forces, BHEL, PWD, NHAI, State Wise Road Transport boards etc recruits Mechanical Engineers.
Private sector offers even more job opportunities. Sm

Hi Shivangi, I totally agree with Puneet, either your brother can wait for second counselling and if he still doesn't get Mechanical then he can take admission in the first year.
I am suggesting this to you because first year's syllabus is mostly same and he can still change his stream before 3rd semester starts by giving a TU-Test which most student who wish to change their streams, also the Syllabus is same as IIT syllabus so it won't be any difficult for him.
