If you are interested in mechanical engineering then you will have to go with the option at the very beginning of your degree. After your HSC, you'll have to chose mechanical engineering in your counselling to get the degree.

As per my experience, you should choose either operations or Marketing for better prospects.

Vel Tech University is a good University. If you failed to score good marks in JEE Mains then probably it will turn out to be a very good option. My sister studied there and got placed last year.
