Yes, you are eligible for aeronautical engineering after your Diploma in mechanical engineering. You are eligible for lateral entry in the second year of BE/Tech. Only a limited number of prominent colleges offer this branch of engineering including Punjab Engineering College-Chandigarh (www.pec.ac.in), Anna University-Chennai (www.annauniv.edu), Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University- Hyderabad (www.jntu.ac.in), Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Institute of Technology-Vasad- (Dist Anand) (affiliated to Gujarat University), Hindustan College of Engineering-Chennai, Institute of Aeronautical Engineering-Secunderabad, Indian Institute of Space Science & Technology (www.iist.ac.in). You are eligible for lateral entry admission in B.Tech aeronautical engineering at Manipal University. The lateral entry program enables candidates with a 3 years diploma in engineering or an equivalent degree to get admitted directly to 2nd Year (3rd semester). Admission is based on Manipal University Online Entrance Test (MU-OET). Admission test is of one hour duration. It consist of Diploma level-mathematics (50), physics (10), chemistry (10) and communication skills in English (20). BSc graduates with Mathematics will have a separate question paper consisting of 70 questions in mathematics and 20 questions in communication skills in English. The MU-OET 2017 will be held between 24.05.2017 to 29.05.2017. Candidates can select the test schedule of their choice in the online test booking system.
