As per my opinion, chemical engineering would be a better option. It's kind of a more generalized branch comparatively. Also, from job opportunities point of view, chemical engineering would open up more opportunities. Nevertheless, metallurgy branch is good at its own place. Eligibility for becoming a lecturer in college is having post graduate degree. This, you have. Hence, you can definitely become lecturer. However, to progress further, you will need to do Ph.D. I would therefore advise you to go for it right now if it is feasible and possible.
