The minimum eligibility criteria (educational qualification) for NDA examination is:
Educational Qualifications:
(I) For Army wing of National Defence Academy: 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
(ii) For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy: 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
Candidates who are appearing in the 12th Class under 10+2 Pattern of School Education or equivalent examination can also apply for this examination. These are the conditions to sit for NDA examination in which case diploma might not be the right choice. For more details, please log on to the official website:

For joining NDA, eligibility conditions for Indian Army under NDA is:
The candidates want to apply for Indian Army must have completed 12th or its equivalent exam from a well-recognized board. The appearing candidates can also apply.
Eligibility for Indian Navy and Air Force in NDA is:
Those seeking for Indian Navy and Air Force must have passed their 12th/appearing from a recognized board or University with Physics and Mathematics as a compulsory subject.
So as per the rules, for Nav/IAF, you need to join science stream but for Army there is no compulsion on the stream. So, you can join NDA but you would have the option of Army only.
