The cut off for every institute is different. It denotes the rank of the candidate who was last admitted to the institute. Candidates can use this data to predict which college they will get for the rank they have obtained in NEET MDS.

The cutoff of NEET MDS determines the minimum marks that a candidate needs to score to clear the examination and participate in the counselling process. A candidate who scores less than the NEET MDS cutoff is not eligible to attend the counselling.

NBE or the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), the NEET MDS exam conducting authority, releases the cutoff scores or the qualifying scores along with the result. The NEET MDS 2025 result was released on May 15, 2025. The NEET MDS 2025 cutoff was also released on the same date. However, on August 14, 2025, NBE released a notice stating the reduction of the NEET MDS 2025 cutoff percentile by 19.863 percentile for all categories, as per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare recommendation.

Yes, solving previous years NEET MDS question papers plays a vital role and has been proven beneficial as well. Solving previous years question papers helps the candidate to analyse themselves thoroughly and gives a clear picture of their exam preparations. Candidates get a proper insight into their current situation and help them strategise and plan their preparations accordingly. However, NBE or the exam conducting body does not release the NEET MDS question papers. Hence, students can either rely on their mentors or professors, or previous year candidates' memory based questions.

It is expected that the NEET MDS syllabus for 2025 will be the same as last year. Last year also, there was no change in the NEET MDS 2025 syllabus. The syllabus of NEET MDS is based on the BDS curriculum, which they had studied while pursuing their undergraduate Dental course. Talking about the NEET MDS syllabus, the exam conducting authority NBE has stated, "The syllabus for the exam shall be that of BDS standard and shall cover all the subjects/syllabus taught during the BDS course as prescribed in the DCI Revised BDS Course Regulations, 2007 as amended from time to time."

Topics such as Dental Materials, General Medicine and General Surgery carry approximately 14 marks each in the NEET MDS entrance exam. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) does not release the exact topic-wise weightgae of NEET MDS exam. Moreover, the past year NEET MDS question papers are also not released by NBE. Hence, the exact makrs or weightage prediction is difficult. The approximate weightage mentioned here is based on previous years' student reactions.

The NEET MDS admit card should be printed in coloured ink. Till last year, there was no mandatory instruction regarding this. However, this year, NBEMS specified taking a coloured printout of the admit card of NEET MDS 2025. A coloured printout of NEET MDS 2025 admit card will be clearer and give a better view of the photograph. NBEMS has stated,  "The admit card containing 2 pages MUST be printed in COLOUR on a single A4 size white paper (BACK to BACK)."
