No, there will not be any break during the NIMCET exam. The NIMCET exam will be conducted with a single paper containing 120 MCQs, and the different segments of the exam will appear to the candidate one after the other. Time assigned for each part is fixed, so there is no scope for any breaks. The candidate should complete each part in the given time only, as movement from one section to another is not allowed.

As per the exam pattern of the NIMCET, and its rules, if a candidate marks more than one answer against a question, it will be negatively marked.

Yes. NIMCET is an entirely online test or a computer-based test. The entrance examination will be conducted at various exam centres, where the systems will be prepared for the exam. During the exam, the candidates would need to check the questions on the computer, select the correct answer and submit it. No physical question papers will be prepared for NIMCET.

Before preparing for it, you must familiarise yourself with the NIMCET exam format and syllabus. Understanding the NIMCET exam pattern will make you aware of the number of sections, the time limit, and the types of questions asked. Furthermore, understanding the NIMCET syllabus will also help to prioritise the study plan and focus on important topics.

Ideally, you should start preparing at least six months before the exam date. The NIMCET 2026 exam date has not been announced yet, however, the tentative examination date is around June 2026, making now a perfect time to start preparing for it. NIMCET exam pattern along with the brochure will soon be released on the official website at nimcet.admissions.nic.in.

Ideally, you should preserve the NIMCET result or the mark sheet carefully as an important academic document, just like your 10th mark sheet, throughout student life, or may be even later.

For NIMCET, you will not receive your mark sheet by post. You will be informed about your result through SMS or email, on your registered mobile number and email ID. Please keep checking the website as well to stay updated of any news about NIMCET results.

No, NIMCET does not announce a single, common institute-wise cut-off rank list. It releases a common NIMCET cutoff list. However, NITs can determine their opening and closing ranks for their MCA programs, based on the overall rank, seat availability and applicant pool. Candidates are advised to check the official websites of the individual NITs and IIITs after the final NIMCET results to stay updated on any such event.
