The approximate subject-wise weightage in GPAT is as follows:
Pharmacology – 25–30 questions
Pharmaceutics – 20–25 questions
Pharmaceutical Chemistry – 15–20 questions
Pharmacognosy – 10–15 questions
Other subjects (Biochemistry, Microbiology, etc.) – 10–15 questions
This distribution may vary slightly year to year, but the core subjects consistently have the highest weightage.

For last few years, the GPAT exam difficulty level has been moderate to difficult. While the core pharmaceutical sciences questions remain conceptual, the exam has increasingly included application-based and numerical questions, especially in Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics, and Pharmaceutical Chemistry.

The university has a total of 40 seats for the DPSRU BPharm in Ayurveda course. Aspirants are admitted as per the sanctioned seat intake. There are reserved seats as well as per the guidelines of the state government. It must be noted that the seat count mentioned here is as per the official website/ sanctioning body. There are a total of 140 seats for the BPharm courses. Candidates are admitted as per the sanctioned intake and performance in the selection rounds. The aspirants of BPharm at DPSRU have to submit certain documents. These are required for verification purposes. Mentioned below are the documents:
- Class 10 and Class 12 marksheet
- Date of birth certificate
- Provisional certificate from the school last attended
- Proof of gap period after passing Class 12 (if any)
- Character certificate from the school last attended
- Medical certificate from a medical practitioner holding a degree (at least MBBS)
- Scanned photograph and signature
- Caste and income certificates
