Pilot's course is not a time bound course, it is a professional training course after completion of which you will get a license. To get the License issued there are certain requirements defined by DGCA. The candidate is required to fly 200hours and pass CPL exams conducted by DGCA. To complete all this usually it takes 2 years of time to become a pilot. The minimum educational eligibility criteria for pursuing a pilot's course is 10+2 with PCM 50% marks. So you should choose PCM for class 11& 12 and target to pass class 12 with at least 50% marks in PCM.

In case you have passed 12th Science, you may join a CPL (Commercial Pilot Licence) training programme if you meet the above mentioned educational and medical standards. You may approach private institutes, fill forms and get started. Most institutes have a Pilot Aptitude Test, which a candidate must clear, in order to get selected. The Aptitude test is a 3 stage process, comprising of- written examination, Interview and the Aptitude Test. The written exam deals with subjects like- Mathematics, Geography, General Knowledge, English skills etc. This is followed by an Interview. Candidates who manage to clear these two stages are called

How low marks do you have? PCM in 12th with 50% passing marks is least elibilty for aviation training. State your marks then we would be able to tell better.

CPL admissions are usually done on Direct Entry Basis. Only few flying schools conduct entrance examination like IGRUA & NFTI.
For these two clubs, you will have to clear the CPL entrance test which is of NDA level.
So, it depends on your choice. You may opt to go for flying schools who take direct entry or via entrance exam.

A degree in aeronautics will only help you in understanding the concepts of aerodynamics. Although, it will not add to any specific or known advantage, while pursuing pilot training or interview for that matter. The aviation regulatory authority has decided minimum qualification for a pilot to be class 12th from any recognized board in PCM. If you have not started your B.Tech. then my personal advice is to not to go for it, because it will take 4 years to complete the degree, in which you can easily complete CPL and get a pilot's job.

Hi,
Commercial Pilot Training can be taken with flying clubs like Rashtriya Udan Academy, Private Flying academies or with flying schools abroad.
The training goes through 3 stages of license. While training, institutions impart training, they do not provide job placements.
Licenses have to be procured in the following order :
Student Pilot License (SPL)
Private Pilot License (PPL)
Commercial Pilot License (CPL)
After class XI/XII (with PCM), students can apply for the SPL. On passing class XII (PCM), they may enrol for the next license-PPL.
On getting the PPL, training begins for CPL.

If you want to be an Airforce pilot, you have to give the AFCAT exam. For commercial pilots, a candidate can join any private commercial pilot training centre which is approved by the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation). In India, there are 43 private pilot training centres or flying clubs.
