1. You need to first possess a student pilot license. You must be over 17 years of age and have completed 12th in Science (Physics and mathematics) with 50%.
2. Your vision in one eye must be perfect. In general medical terminology, it is called 6/6 eyesight. In the other eye, you could have an imperfection of 6/9, which must be correctable to 6/6.
3. General physical fitness is mandatory. You must be free of any disease that can hamper normal function.
4. You need to register at a flying club which is recognised by Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Government of India.

Pilot training (commercial pilot license):
Duration: 1 year (approx.)
Eligibility:
10+2 or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in mathematics and physics. If you don't have physics and maths in 10+2 you have an option of doing these two subjects from National Institute of Open Schoolings On-Demand Examinations and can still start your Pilot training course. DGCA requires you to have completed a certain number of flight hours during the course, along with certain licenses and ratings. After you gain these, you can convert your licenses and ratings upon return to India. Most of the pilot courses comply with these requirements, as the requirements to be a pilot are uniform across countries and authorities.

Training in commercial flying can be taken with flying clubs like the Rashtriya Udan Academy and private flying academies.
The training goes through 3 stages of licence. While they give training, placement is not their responsibility.
The licences have to be procured in the following order:
- Student Pilot Licence (SPL)
- Private Pilot Licence (PPL)
- Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL)
After class XI/XII (PCM) students can apply for the SPL.
On passing class XII (PCM) they may enrol

Bombay Flying Club, Rajiv Gandhi Academy for Aviation Technology, Indira Gandhi Institute Of Aeronautics and Government Aviation Training Institute (GATI) are some of the prestigious institutes in India. For your foreign studies, it is difficult to pin point institutes within your budget. So, check this list if you wish to find relevant options:
