Yes after completion of your Diploma in engineering you can definitely seek admission directly in second year of engineering under what is called as lateral admission procedure. The admissions invariably are based on the marks obtained in the Diploma examination. In almost all the states in India, these admissions are done centrally by what is called as the directorate of technical education of the state. Kongu College of engineering at Erode in Tamilnadu admits students based on the guidelines given by the state of Tamil Nadu. In this state, there is no entrance exam and admissions are based on marks obtained in 12th standard.
