Programming Languages

Knowing how to code is a great skill. Doesn't matter if you're in sales or engineering. Start with Python. It's very powerful plus it's a lot easier to learn than C.
It really depends on what you want to achieve. I know many CEs who never do any sort of programming. It definitely isn't part of your daily activities.
But I also know a great many who do "program" as a sideline because they wanted to automate some tasks. These are very much tied to the software they use. E.g. if using something like AutoDesk's C3D chances are they do their "programming" in AutoLisp, or DotNet (C#/VBNet or more recently IronPython/-Ruby). But they've learned it more like a hobby than as part of their general work requirements. Very few of them go with other languages like C or C+ since seldom would such be a road into automation of their current software.

Pankaj, I am not sure how good you are with maths and programming. If you are, then you must pick up Programming and take a language whether PHP/ HTML5 (web dev), .Net (for software dev) Java/ Android (for apps) or C#/ Unity (for games). However like i mentioned, you must be good with programming to move ahead in this area since you have to compete with MCAs and BTech(CS) applicants. So choose your internship/ industrial training very carefully. Do not just go for the cheapest to save money. See the IT company's credentials on the net. for example if someone provide LIVE PROJECTS are they there near the TOP on PORTALS like JUSTDIAL? Or if the company is registered with STPI (Software Technology Parks of India) - all good IT companies are registered with STPI. If a company spends money to market themselves to customers, only then they are able to get LIVE PROJECTS. Also, if you are an average programmer, and if you you're better with creative work, then you can head for web design or even vfx/ animation since there is a huge requirement coming up in that domain. There is also an intermediate path in games design and development. Wish you the best for your career.
