I think you should take clinical psychology, because that will help you in becoming a therapist. Applied psychology is more about learning how to apply psychological theories. If you do clinical psychology, you can treat mental disorders (not like a psychiatrist) which applied psychology won't allow.

To become an Assistant Professor first you have to qualify the UGC NET Exam. NTA conducts the UGC NET twice in a year in the month of June and December, for all the non-Science students. The exam is catered for more than 80 subjects. As per your qualifications you are eligible to appear in the UGC NET Psychology subject 04. UGC NET gives opportunity to the eligible candidates to become Assistant Professor and JRF (Junior Research Fellowship).
