You should go for higher studies. Second option is that for now you should take the placement, then after some time pursue MBA. Meanwhile you'll also be able to gain more experience.

To sit for placements generally the criteria depends on the company. If you are a good performer in your graduation and have great knowledge about the subject, along with the confidence to showcase that knowledge, you will surely get placed in the choice of your company.

You have taken a gap in your studies primarily because you could not afford it financially. You have every right to do this. You have solid reasons for explaining gaps in your studies. With such good and solid reasons, no company will prevent you from appearing in campus interview. So just do nit worry.
