Nift is well-known everywhere. In Ranchi also maximum people don't know about Nift. According to me there may be following reason:
Lack of publicity. Low strength: In Nift, the overall strength is around 1000. It is less than any private school. Branches:In Nifft there is only two branches that is metallurgy and manufacturing. Maximum people have lack of interest towards these branches. It's name:It is not popular due to its name also. When we say Nift, maximum people thinks it is national institute of fashion technology. Still I strongly believe that one day Ranchi will be known for Nift because we have very talented student. Nift also gives good rankers in GATE every year. Students have also showed there talent in SAE and many field. Good luck Niftians.

Common syllabus:
Aptitude test (mathematics): Aptitude is based on your class 10th level mathematics example time and distance, trigonometry (do remember formula), geometry (triangles and circles), mensuration (area, surface area and volumes) and so on.
General English: This includes tense, modal verbs, active/passive voice, clause, reporting, determiners and prepositions, etc. You might get passages.
Reasoning: There may be some questions based on reasoning like odd out one, geometrical shapes, puzzle test, direction test, etc.
Current Affairs: There will be some questions based on CA. Reading newspaper helps you. If you study some kind of monthly/weekly/yearly magazine then don't waste extra time to prepare for CA. If you read newspaper daily then it would certainly help you.
General Knowledge: It covers cities in India, resources and lakes in our country, maps, leaders of our country and basic science and technology, etc.
