SAT exam history dates back to 1926, where the exam contents evolved from an Army IQ test. It was conducted by the non-profit organisation - College Board, which is still the official adminstrator of the SAT exam. The exam was designed to test the meritocracy of the applicants applying for colleges in the US from high school irrespective of their previous academic backgrounds. The SAT exam in 1926 tested applicants on Arithmetic, Logic, Reading, and certain Definitions of terms which was taken by 8,000 students. Seeing the importance of SAT in 1926 and its rising use, in 1935 Harvard University made it mandatory for all its applicants

As such there are no limits to take the SAT exam, or prescribed by College Board as such. The applicants can take SAT exam as many times as they wish to. Usually, as per College Board, the applicants take SAT exam once or twice before app;ying for admissions, the reason being that colleges pick the highest score from either of the two attempts. Since SAT is conducted seven times a year, applicants can choose their preferred dates for taking the SAT once or for the second time as well.

A SAT score of 1380 places you in a competitive range for many universities offering Computer Science programs. While the competitiveness of a programme depends on factors such as the university's ranking, programme requirements, and available seats, a score of 1380 (out of 1600) is solid and should make you eligible for a wide variety of universities.

1. Top-Tier Universities:

  • Ivy League schools like Harvard, MIT, and Princeton typically have very high SAT score requirements for Computer Science programs, often needing scores above 1500. With a 1380, it may be challenging to get into these programs directly, though some schools have fle

The colleges applicants apply to usually consider both - SAT scores and percentiles. This is done basically to understand the competitiveness among applicants who have applied to a certain college. Also, admission committees understand where the applicants stand based on their SAT scores, percentiles and based on their overall application for admission.

The SAT percentiles usually change annually, because this data is based on the number of applicants taking the SAT exam annually. Thus. the SAT scores and percentiles can vary accordingly. Applicants do not need to calculate their SAT percentiles mannually. The SAT score report usually consists of the percentiles that is generated by College Board.
