While there is a huge availability of SAT prep resources online, and offline as well it is up to the applicants to choose which one suits them the best. Irrespective of their choice of study, applicants must remember the recommendations for SAT books that come from College Board and also check out Khan Academy which is the official SAT prep partner before appearing for the SAT exam.

There are additional resources for SAT prep available online and offline. One must attempt free mocks on Bluebook App after SAT registration. For the reading and writing section, applicants can pick up any resource material but for Math working out through old textbooks can prove beneficial.

Only The Official Digital SAT Study Guide is the best SAT book for beginners. This is because,

  1. It has been recommended by College Board (SAT exam administrator)
  2. For new applicants understanding everything about SAT exam can be overwhekming, but this book will systematically help applicants in SAT preparation.
  3. Also this book includes targetted questions for both sections, topic-wise, which could be helpful.
  4. This book is available as hard copy and not a soft copy, thus, using the traditional method of SAT exam prep will prove beneficial.
  5. Finally, applicants can order this SAT book from College Board website at $34.99.

SAT registration does not require 12th marks also because some students may sit for SAT exam before completing their class 12th. Thus, there is no such provision of appearing for SAT and requiring class 12th marks for the same. Applicants can register for the SAT exam even without qualifying for the class 12th exams.

The SAT exam syllabus is designed for applicants on the basis of class XII and school-level academics. Toughness of SAT syllabus is very subjective and shall vary from individual to individual. SAT syllabus is designed keeping school academics in mind and assessing the aptitude of applicants for college admissions. Thus, based on the applicants overall preparation, SAT syllabus will be easier and applicants will not face a lot of difficulty in cracking the exam.

  • College Board scores questions based on correctness, there is no negative marking for wrong or unattempted questions.
  • SAT scores are usually determined by Item Response Theory (IRT) which is a consideration of the question's difficulty and patterns in answers.
  • Pretest questions on SAT are included to gather data and they usually do not affect the SAT scores.
  • Benchmarks for college readiness based on SAT scores remain consistent with the new testing pattern.

The exam consists of two main sections. Math and Evidence based Reading & Writing, each worth 800 points. The older 2400 point scale was discontinued by College Board in March 2016.

No, SAT exams are proctored at designated test centres by College Board. Even after SAT has gone Digital, the applicants still have to appear for the exam at a test centre only and do not have the option of taking it from home at present. Thus, those planning to take SAT exam upon registration will have to choose a nearby SAT exam centre in order to appear for the exam.
